ICE: Migrants Can’t Get Into U.S. Without Mexico’s Help

Thomas Homan, former head of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, reported that Mexico may be more unwilling than unable to stop the thousands of Central American migrants from marching through its territory en route to force their way across our southern border. “As far as Mexican police not being able, I would say maybe not being able, maybe some unwilling,” Homan explained in an appearance on Fox News. However, it is not a hopeless situation. According to Homan, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers and agents will “defend the line” even if Mexico does not.

Here’s more from Washington Examiner…

The former acting director of the federal immigration agency suggested Monday that Mexico may be unwilling to stop thousands of Central American migrants from entering its southern border.

“As far as Mexican police not being able, I would say maybe not being able – maybe some unwilling.” Thomas Homan, the former head of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said in an appearance on Fox News Monday morning.

Homan said that, unlike Mexican law enforcement, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers based at official entry points and Border Patrol agents stationed between ports “won’t step aside or step back.”

“They will defend this line,” Homan added.

Mexico’s Foreign Ministry deployed hundreds of federal police and immigration officers to its border with Guatemala last week as a group of primarily Honduran nationals made its way there.

How Dare Kanye West Think for Himself?

While Democrats continue to exploit identity politics for political gain and accuse President Donald Trump of unfounded racism, their collective condemnation of Kanye West’s recent visit to the White House while wearing a MAGA hat was a real reflection of racial oppression, as liberals made clear that they don’t support racial minorities thinking for themselves or backing politicians of their choice.
Is there anything more un-American or downright racist than signaling to a generation of black Americans that they have to do as they’re told and vote Democratic? The Democratic Party, which comprises a white majority, thinks it should be able to command them how to think and whom to vote for.

That’s ideological slavery — not to mention a suppression of black Americans’ protected right to free speech and freedom of association enshrined in the U.S. Constitution. For contrast, Republicans believe that all Americans should be free to think for themselves, wear whatever hat and clothing they’d like, and vote for the candidates of their own choosing without fear. Alarmingly, West’s refusal to fall in line as Democrats expect blacks to do every election cycle was met with unbridled bullying and all-out character assassination — blowing a seismic hole in the Democratic Party’s claim that it’s tolerant and pro-diversity.

On CNN, liberal host Don Lemon said, “Kanye, back away from the cameras. Go get some help. And then come back and make your case,” later adding, “We’re watching someone’s demise in front of our eyes.” On the same network, a panelist said, “Kanye West is what happens when Negroes don’t read.” Another CNN contributor called West a “token Negro,” while other liberal pundits across the media spectrum widely mocked and ridiculed the musician, with some even calling him a white supremacist for hugging Trump and for acknowledging that his administration has done more to uplift the black community than Barack Obama’s did.

Let’s look at jobs and overall prosperity. Under Obama, his hometown of Chicago was arguably as dangerous as Baghdad, and thousands of black Americans suffered through debilitating high unemployment, with a peak of 16.8 percent during the Great Recession — not to mention that nearly 50 million Americans were on food stamps. With Trump occupying the Oval Office, unemployment for blacks and other racial minorities has fallen to historic lows. The black unemployment rate dipped to 5.9 percent last spring. Add to it there are now over 7 million more job openings than workers available, allowing 3.5 million Americans to get off publicly funded nutrition assistance programs.
And the murder rate in Chicago continues to drop under the Trump administration. In 2016, Obama’s last full year, there were 762 homicides there. In 2017, there were 650 homicides, and there have been 435 this year.

Instead of recognizing these stark contrasts, liberals across the media echo chamber have chosen not to argue the policy differences between a Republican administration and a Democratic one. Instead, they went low and accused West, a mega-successful music mogul, of being mentally inferior, a token and a sellout.

But when white musicians and Hollywood celebrities supported Obama during his tenure on Pennsylvania Avenue, they were thunderously applauded by the left — despite the fact that in Chicago and other places, a black-on-black slaughter was taking place and the American dream was far out of reach for too many.

Voters know what’s going on. And come November, they, like West, may dare to do the unthinkable — think for themselves — no matter what media hacks or Hollywood has to say about it.

Former Facebook Exec Says Midterms Cybersecurity Weak

During an interview with NBC News, Alex Stamos, former chief of security for Facebook, warned that the U.S. is not prepared for cyber interference in the 2018 midterm elections now just three weeks away. To get ready, Stamos says there have been only “small improvements” when what is needed is a “massive upgrade in campaign infrastructure” capable of standing against “a professional hacking agency.” On the other hand, he says Facebook itself has done a “good job” adapting its own approach to cyber interference in the wake of Russia’s exploitation of its platform for influence operations and disinformation campaigns.

Here’s more from Washington Examiner…

Facebook’s former chief of security warned that the United States is not equipped to handle potential cyber interference in the 2018 midterm elections.

During an interview with NBC News, Alex Stamos said the U.S. has not launched the kind of massive upgrade in campaign infrastructure that would be needed to stand against a professional hacking agency.

“There’s been small improvements in campaign security,” Stamos said. “But we have not seen the kind of massive upgrade in campaign infrastructure that you would need to stand against a professional hacking agency like that.”

Meanwhile, he said Facebook has done a “good job” of responding to the events of 2016.

NBC News said Stamos likened the alleged meddling by Russian hackers in the 2016 election to Pearl Harbor and the Sept. 11 attacks in terms of a nationwide failure to foresee a potentially catastrophic event and respond aggressively to lingering threats.

Accosted at Airport, Senator Cruz Keeps It Classy

Liberal mobs know no boundaries, but Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) was caught on camera refusing to take the bait. Despite being in the final days of a dead heat battle for his senate seat, Cruz pitched the perfect high-road responses to two angry women who accosted him at an airport over his support for Justice Brett Kavanaugh: “Thank you for expressing your First Amendment rights.” One protester tried to warp his remarks saying, “You think that putting a sexual assaulter on the court is a victory for women? You believe in men assaulting women. That’s what your whole custom is senator.” Senator Cruz responded simply with, “I believe in due process.”

Here’s more from The Daily Wire…

On Tuesday, as Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) was walking through an airport, he was accosted by two angry women who were still apparently obsessed with the confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. When the women attacked Cruz for supporting Kavanaugh’s confirmation, he had the perfect response, saying, “Thank you for expressing your First Amendment Rights.”

The exchange that was caught on video started with Cruz asserting, “It’s a victory for women in America.”

The first female heckler snapped, “You think that putting a sexual assaulter on the court is a victory for women? You believe in men assaulting women. That’s what your whole custom is, Senator.”

Cruz tried to educate the woman: “I believe in due process.”

The woman, who apparently doesn’t understand that the necessity of corroborative evidence in order for due process to function properly, answered, “You believe in due process? Lots of women were out there talking about their stories.”

Sen. Orrin Hatch Clowns Warren with Dinosaur Tweet

Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT), the longest-serving Republican senator, proved to America that you don’t have to be arrogant and self-serving to make a political point. Parody will suffice. Earlier this week Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) revealed she “might” be 1/1024th Native American. Hatch’s social media team responded with a tweet claiming Hatch is “1/1032” T-Rex, and the rest of him is “other” dinosaurs.

Here’s more from Washington Examiner…

The co-founder of opposition research firm Fusion GPS Glenn Simpson pleaded the Fifth Amendment on Tuesday to House Republicans who were seeking his testimony on the role his company played in creating an investigation into Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.

“Mr. Simpson has proudly stood today on his constitutional privileges not to testify,” Simpson’s lawyer, Joshua Levy, told reporters Tuesday after his client asserted his constitutional right against self-incrimination.

“The House Judiciary Committee has subpoenaed Mr. Simpson to appear today for testimony, and this committee has shown no interest that Russia interfered in the 2016 election,” Levy added. He said the committee has “destroyed the reputation and careers of prosecutors and agents.”

Portland Mayor Claims City ‘Completely Safe’ Despite Antifa

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler is on the defense after ordering local police to stand down during an Antifa protest which predictably resulted in chaos as the face-covering “anti-fascists” ran amok through the city, chasing cars and causing mayhem. Wheeler responded by blaming Portland’s finest for failure to keep the peace. Wheeler assured the public that “motorists should feel completely safe coming into downtown Portland.” While Wheeler did say he did not support Antifa’s behavior, he ordered an investigation of the police response instead.

Here’s more from The Daily Wire…

Portland’s Mayor Ted Wheeler defended a decision to have police stand down during an “anti-Fascist” protest in Portland weeks ago, allowing black-clad Antifa members to run roughshod through the city, directing traffic, chasing motorists, and causing chaos.

Wheeler, who has been criticized in the past for refusing to curb Antifa’s antics, pinned blame for the mayhem on Portland’s Police Bureau in a statement on Twitter, and claimed that the incident “will be investigated.”

Wheeler added that “motorists should feel completely safe coming into downtown Portland.”

As mayor, Wheeler also serves as police commissioner.

Antifa took to the streets last weekend to protest the shooting death of Patrick Kimmons, who was killed in a police involved shooting in early October.

Left Wing Mob Goes After Susan Rice’s Son

Perhaps it’s worth pointing out that at least the liberal mob is being “fair” in its treatment of conservatives regardless of their location, prestige, or parentage. That’s apparent in the latest case of violence against the son of former Obama National Security Adviser Susan Rice. According to Stanford College Republicans, her son, John David Rice-Cameron, their chapter president, was assaulted by Stanford sophomore Melinda Hernandez, who “hit him in [the] chest and forcefully pushed him . . .” during a “Change My Mind” event. Per the statement released by SCR, Mr. Rice will be pressing charges against Hernandez. Beyond the attacks on Rice’s person, liberal undergrads vandalized and destroyed the group’s signs and threw paint and water at the members besides insulting them and yelling profanities.

Here’s more from Breitbart…

Stanford College Republicans said Tuesday that John David Rice-Cameron, its president and son of former Obama National Security Adviser Susan Rice, was assaulted that day at a event at Stanford University, where he is a sophomore.
“Today, SCR experienced the violent and totalitarian behavior of the unhinged Stanford left. During a ‘Change My Mind’ tabling event regarding the presumption of innocence and the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation, SCR’s President was assaulted by Melinda Hernandez. A sophomore at Stanford, Hernandez approached our President, hit him in chest and forcefully pushed him back,” the group posted on Facebook.

“Our President is pressing full charges against Hernandez. Violence is completely unacceptable, and we will not allow anyone to get away with it. Throughout the day, our signs were vandalized and destroyed, and we will be posting more video and photos shortly. Stay tuned,” it said.

Reframe Our Thinking, Reframe Our Actions

We have less than a month to go before the midterm elections, and my bet is that most of America will be glad when it is over — no matter what the result.

Currently, Republicans control the House, the Senate and the presidency. Based on historical election patterns, the Democrats should pick up seats in both legislative bodies. However, recent legislative successes and a strong economy bode well for Republicans.

“While U.S. adults remain largely dissatisfied with the way the nation is being governed,” Gallup noted in an article this past Monday, “their satisfaction is up 10 percentage points since last year, to 38 percent” (1,035 adults, Sept. 4 to 12, 95 percent, plus or minus 4 percentage points). As you might have guessed based on Republicans controlling House, Senate and the presidency: “This increase is exclusively attributable to further heightened positivity among Republicans and Republican-leaning independents, whose satisfaction rose from 47 percent last year to 72 percent now. At the same time, Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents’ satisfaction is static at 10 percent.” Not surprising. Those in power are happy, those out of power not happy. What is surprising is that, according to a Gallup article from Wednesday, most Americans want their political leaders to compromise.

“For years, Gallup has been asking Americans to place themselves on a 1 to 5 scale, anchored at one end with the idea that ‘It is more important for political leaders to compromise in order to get things done’ and anchored at the other end with ‘It is more important for political leaders to stick to their beliefs even if little gets done.’ Given these choices, Americans have consistently tilted toward the compromise end of the spectrum,” wrote Frank Newport, Gallup’s editor-in-chief. “In our most recent update, 22 percent of Americans chose the two points at the end of the scale representing sticking to principle, while 50 percent were at the compromise end of the scale.”

The challenge is that those who are on the “stick to their beliefs” side of the spectrum are the ones who are most vocal on both sides of the political spectrum, and compromise is hard to reach when you are busy yelling at the other side.

The question that the majority (those who want compromise) might want to think about is this: How do we get about compromise? From my experience, I would say that the parties involved have to listen, learn and reach out to those on the other side. It helps if you start small and celebrate small wins before taking on giant issues that are emotionally and historically charged. It also helps when you remind yourself that the opposing party is also a person, probably with good intentions.
Too often, when we expect the worst from others, that is exactly what we get. If, instead, we step back and remind ourselves that we are but a piece of the puzzle, then maybe we can begin to work together.

A study published in 2015 in “The Journal of Personality and Social Psychology” provides an antidote to our society’s narcissistic focus:

“Collaboration, cooperation and coaction requires a diminished emphasis on the self and its interests and a shift to attending to the larger entities one is a part of (e.g., small groups, social collectives and humanity),” wrote the authors, Paul K. Piff, Pia Dietze, Matthew Feinberg, Daniel M. Stancato and Dacher Keltner. “Enhanced prosocial tendencies — inclinations to share, care and assist — further enable individuals to function more effectively within social collectives.”
In other words, working together is beneficial.

If narcissistic behavior is predicated on an over-enhanced sense of self, then the question becomes: How does this focus shift from a large self to a small self? According to the study, “these effects will be driven by what we refer to as the ‘small self’ — a relatively diminished sense of self (i.e., feeling one’s being and goals to be less significant) vis-a-vis something deemed vaster than the individual,” in other words “Awe.”

But today, the something we see as bigger than ourselves is often a political party, racial, social or economic group rather than our nation as a whole. We need to reframe our thinking to reframe our actions.

In less than a month, the midterms will be over. It is my hope that the legislative winners will pause, reflect and attempt to reach across the aisle and lead the majority of Americans, regardless of their political party.

McSally Pulling Ahead in AZ U.S. Senate Race

According to a new ABC15/OH Predictive Insights poll, GOP senatorial candidate Air Force veteran Martha McSally is widening her lead against Democrat Kyrsten Sinema 47%-41%. This is three points more than September’s poll, which had McSally leading 49%-46%. According to ABC15, Green Party candidate Angela Green may be the one to thank for picking off some of Sinema’s support. Fallout from the Kavanaugh chaos may also be benefitting McSally, as it is in multiple races across the country.

Here’s more from The Daily Wire…

A new poll shows Arizona GOP senatorial candidate Martha McSally widening her lead against her Democratic opponent, Kyrsten Sinema, in the race to replace Senator Jeff Flake. The ABC15/OH Predictive Insights poll found McSally leading Sinema 47%-41%. In September, the same poll found in McSally leading 49%-46%.

As ABC15 reported, chief pollster Mike Noble said McSally was benefiting from the uniting of Republicans following the hearings for Justice Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump’s growing support, and the entrance in the race of Green Party candidate Angela Green, who siphoned off some of Sinema’s support.

Nobel stated, “What we saw all year was Republicans were less united compared to Democrats, who were more united or fully united. So whether they disliked Trump or had issues with the establishment, now what we’ve seen is [the] Kavanaugh confirmation process has really brought all those Republicans home and has solidified the Republican base, hence why you’re seeing all the favorable numbers toward McSally.”

AOC Wants to Abolish the “Racist” Electoral College

Self-proclaimed socialist New York congressional candidate Ocasio-Cortez is adding abolishing the Electoral College to her to-do list. She tweeted: “It is well past time we eliminate the Electoral College, a shadow of slavery’s power on America today that undermines our nation as a democratic republic.” Never mind its utility of preventing mob rule in a democratic republic. Apparently the “future” of the Democratic Party is only interested in 147 maximum character sound bites for policymaking in lieu of deeper thoughts, such as arguments like those in the The Federalist Papers, where the case for the Electoral College was made clear.

Here’s more from The Daily Wire…

Though she’s poised to easily win in November, Democratic congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez continues to make the media rounds, giving the sympathetic press “word salads” they enthusiastically devour. She’s also continuing to expand her radical platform with more radical agenda items. The latest: eliminate the Electoral College. The reason? It’s racist.

Over the weekend, “the future” of the Democratic Party announced that it was time to consign the Electoral College to the dustbin of history because it was a “relic” of America’s racist past. The confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh prompted the declaration.

GQ Magazine’s Julia Ioffe noted that “two presidents who both lost the popular vote have now placed four justices on the Supreme Court.”
