Bernie: Kill “Poor” Babies, Save the Planet

During a CNN town hall debate on Wednesday night, 2020 presidential candidate Bernie Sanders (I-VT) proposed funding foreign abortions in poor countries to combat human overpopulation. When asked if he would be “courageous enough” to discuss abortions and birth control to “curb population growth” as a means to “address climate catastrophe,” Bernie responded, “Yes,” before extolling the virtues of the Mexico City agreement sending taxpayer dollars overseas for foreign abortions, particularly in the developing world. Then again, no one is surprised that a socialist supports killing babies. Read more…

Democrat presidential candidate Bernie Sanders suggested that taxpayers should fund abortions in poor countries during a CNN town hall debate on Wednesday night in response to whether he supports population control.

Martha Readyoff, identified by CNN as a teacher, said to Sanders: “Human population growth has more than doubled in the last 50 years, the planet cannot sustain this growth.”

“Empowering women, and educating everyone on the need to curb population growth seems a reasonable campaign to enact,” Readyoff continued. “Would you be courageous enough to discuss this issue and make it a key feature of a plan to address climate catastrophe.”

Planned Parenthood Whistleblower Awarded Millions in Damages

A former Planned Parenthood clinic director has been unanimously awarded $3 million in damages by a jury in an Arizona court for wrongful termination. Marya Rodriquez, an illegal immigrant who worked at Planned Parenthood for 17 years, sued after being fired for reporting the organization was endangering the health and safety of its patients, specifically the “high complication rates” of a doctor and failure to report a minor patient who had an adult partner. An Arizona court awarded a former Planned Parenthood clinic director $3 million in damages for being wrongfully terminated after she reported that the organization, where she worked for 17 years, was endangering the health and safety of its patients.

Mayra Rodriguez sued the controversial organization – which provides abortions among other services – in October 2017, alleging she got terminated after repeatedly reporting the “high complication rates” of one doctor.

She accused the doctor of falsification of affidavits and patient records, performing incomplete abortions and failure to report a minor who had an adult partner.

Last Friday, a jury unanimously awarded Rodriguez $3 million in damages after a two-week trial.

State Records Support Need for “Born Alive” Protection Law

Abortion advocates determined to bury the truth of when life begins are hard-pressed to combat “Born Alive” legislation protections in the wake of state records revealing that at least 40 babies were born alive after botched abortions across just three states-Minnesota, Arizona, and Florida-since 2016. This data is also supposed to be collected from Michigan, Oklahoma, and Texas, which have either reported no cases or have yet to begin compiling and reporting the data. In the case of Oklahoma, the information was left blank in its report but says, “Cell is suppressed to maintain confidentiality of surrounding states.” Read more…

At least 40 babies were born alive after botched abortions across three states since 2016, according to state health data that offers a glimpse into the extent of an issue that lawmakers have fiercely debated in recent months.

The data on babies surviving abortions is compiled on a mandatory basis by only a handful of states. What is available reflects a scenario that is rare but frequent enough to prompt proposals at the state and federal level for born-alive infant protection laws – especially in the wake of Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s controversial comments on the subject earlier this year.

The most recent information comes from Minnesota, which reported in June that three infants were born alive in 2018 after induced termination of a pregnancy. That brings the state total to 11 since 2016. Arizona reported 10 in 2017 and Florida had 19 such instances since 2017.

Federal Judge Blocks Arkansas’ Abortion Restrictions

U.S. District Judge Kristine Baker issued a 159-page order blocking Arkansas from enforcing its new pro-life legislation, arguing that it would likely force the state’s only surgical abortion clinic to close. Among the provisions are measures prohibiting abortions after 18 weeks of pregnancy, abortions due to a Down syndrome diagnosis, and also requiring that doctors performing abortions be board certified or board eligible in obstetrics and gynecology. The lawsuit was originally brought by the American Civil Liberties Union, which commented that it is “determined to see them blocked for good.” Read more…

Here’s more from Fox News…

The laws are being challenged by Little Rock Family Planning Services, the state’s only surgical abortion clinic, and Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood only offers medication-induced abortions at its Arkansas facilities. Planned Parenthood earlier this month stopped providing medication-induced abortions at its Fayetteville facility while it looks for a new location, but is still providing the procedure at its Little Rock center.

The challenge was filed on behalf of the plaintiffs by ACLU of Arkansas. Its spokeswoman, Holly Dickson, said ACLU attorneys were poring over the order and will have a statement later Wednesday. For now, “We are so relieved that these bans and restrictions have been temporarily blocked from taking effect. And we are determined to see them blocked for good,” she said.

A message left with a spokeswoman for the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office was not immediately returned early Wednesday.

Omar Wants Taxpayers to Fund Illegals’ Abortions

Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) clearly thinks taxpayers should foot the bill for illegal aliens’ abortions.”No one should fear receiving medical care because they are undocumented. We must ensure that all people in our country have access to reproductive health care,” Omar tweeted Monday. Her political pandering disregards the fact that the Hyde Amendment prohibits federal funding for most abortions regardless of legal status, and Islam decidedly does not allow abortion. Read more…

Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar believes illegal immigrants should have taxpayer-funded abortions.

“No one should fear receiving medical care because they are undocumented. We must ensure that all people in our country have access to reproductive health care,” Omar wrote in a Monday night tweet.

Omar has taken hard-line positions on abortion before. Following President Donald Trump’s impassioned plea to end late-term abortion in his February State of the Union address, Omar tweeted: “If Trump thinks pivoting from his failed vanity wall to policing women’s bodies and choices is going to help his 2020 chances he has another thing [sic] coming.”

Planned Parenthood President Sacked

An internal coup of sorts is playing out at Planned Parenthood, with the organization’s board holding a “secret meeting” to remove Dr. Leana Wen as its president just eight months after unanimously hiring her. According to a statement released by Wen, at the heart of the matter seems to be differences over framing abortion as a political issue as opposed to one of healthcare: “I believe that the best way to protect abortion care is to be clear that it is not a political issue but a healthcare one, and that we can expand support for reproductive rights by finding common ground with the large majority of Americans who understand reproductive healthcare as the fundamental healthcare that it is.” Read more…

Planned Parenthood removed its president from the organization on Tuesday after less than a year on the job.

Dr. Leana Wen announced her departure on Twitter, characterizing the decision as being made by the board during a “secret meeting.”

“We were engaged in good faith negotiations about my departure based on philosophical differences over the direction and future of Planned Parenthood,” she said.

Wen said in a statement that she had taken on the role at Planned Parenthood to advocate for a “broad range of policies that affect our patients’ health.” The statement she provided suggested that Planned Parenthood preferred to frame abortion as a political issue rather than a healthcare issue.

Trump Declares Title X Abortion Restrictions Effective Immediately

The Trump administration announced Monday that the “Protect Life Rule,” prohibiting family planning clinics from referring women to abortion providers if they receive Title X grants, will be effective immediately. According to a report by the Washington Examiner, about $260 million in grants to “family planning clinics” are subject to the new rules, which also include a stipulation that these clinics cannot share facilities with abortion providers. In other words, President Trump just slashed Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer-funded slush fund. Read more…

The Trump administration announced Monday that family planning clinics are prohibited from referring women to abortion providers if they receive Title X family planning grants.

The Trump administration’s “Protect Life Rule,” which many abortion rights advocates call a “gag rule,” will prohibit recipients of the grant from directly referring for abortions. The rule applies to some Planned Parenthood clinics.

The anti-abortion group Susan B. Anthony List praised the Trump administration Monday, saying, “Without reducing Title X funding by a dime, the Protect Life Rule simply draws a bright line between abortion and family planning, stopping abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood from treating Title X as their private slush fund.”

Poll: Pro-Life Movement Gaining More Momentum

Gallup’s annual public opinion poll on abortion policy released last week reveals that 49 percent of respondents identify as “pro-life,” marking the first poll since 2013 to do so. The percentage of Americans who think abortion should either be “illegal in all circumstances” or “legal in only a few circumstances” also increased from 53 to 60 percent between 2018 and 2019. Last week, Gallup released its annual public-opinion poll on abortion policy, and its results contain some good news for abortion opponents. According to the survey, a plurality of Americans now identify as pro-life, with 49 percent of respondents calling themselves “pro-life,” and 46 percent calling themselves “pro-choice.” This is the first Gallup poll since 2013 in which a higher percentage of respondents identified as “pro-life” rather than “pro-choice.”

The new survey also found that the percentage of Americans who think abortion should either be “illegal in all circumstances” or “legal in only a few circumstances” increased from 53 to 60 percent between 2018 and 2019. A Gallup poll conducted in May, meanwhile, found that the percentage of Americans who consider abortion immoral reached 50 percent for the first time since 2012.
