Today’s Real Radicals

Talk about doublespeak. Democrats en masse insist President Donald Trump is “unhinged” and must be removed from office, while simultaneously taking bold strides to upend the U.S. Constitution and abolish long-standing norms and institutions that have served our country well for decades, if not centuries.

Presidential candidates including Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren and other liberal lawmakers are calling for the abolishment of the Electoral College, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and any humane limits on abortion. Add to it Democratic leaders including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi who wants to lower the voting age to 16, while California Senator Kamala Harris champions “Medicare For All,” which, if implemented, would not only abolish consumer choice — it’ll torch the private health care industry.

But that’s not all. A growing number of far-left lawmakers and presidential aspirants also want to reconfigure the U.S. Supreme Court so they can stack the judicial bench with like-minded activist judges to advance their political agenda at any cost. If all that’s not radical enough, the majority of the 2020 Democratic presidential candidates also support the preposterous “Green New Deal,” which would take a sledgehammer to tens of millions of jobs while demolishing countless time-honored industries and norms, such as the automobile and airline industries, as we know it.

Yet these are the same elites that tell Americans on the campaign trail — and on any TV outlet they can find — that Trump is unhinged and unfit to lead our nation.

Seriously, folks? If that’s the case, it must be April Fools’ Day or a modern rendition of “The Twilight Zone.”
With respect to the Electoral College, it’s quite ironic that left-wing politicians who claim to champion “equality” in all its manifestations including income, gender and marriage equality now want to abolish sections of the U.S.

Constitution that protect us from voter inequality — meaning that the Electoral College was created by our founders to prevent a tyranny of the majority living in big populous cities. The Electoral College also compels presidential candidates to campaign nationwide, thereby learning the plight and concerns of all voters versus just catering to the coastal elites.

Something the president tweeted about this week: “Campaigning for the Popular Vote is much easier & different than campaigning for the Electoral College. It’s like training for the 100 yard dash vs. a marathon. The brilliance of the Electoral College is that you must go to many States to win. With the Popular Vote, you go to just the large States – the Cities would end up running the Country. Smaller States & the entire Midwest would end up losing all power – & we can’t let that happen. I used to like the idea of the Popular Vote, but now realize the Electoral College is far better for the U.S.A.”

Notwithstanding, Democratic presidential candidates and a growing cabal of high-profile Democratic lawmakers and officials want to upend how we elect U.S. presidents, despite that the Electoral College has served our country well for the past two and a half centuries.

This illustrates quite definitely that, counter to what they tell us on partisan media outlets, Democrats today are the real radicals.

Elizabeth Warren Blames Family for Lying about Native Ancestry

Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) reached a new low on Monday, throwing her family under the bus regarding her self-proclaimed 1/1024th Native American heritage. “How do you respond to people who think that, regardless of the underlying facts, the way you handled the question of your Native American heritage was tone deaf and indicative of a lack of presidential tact?” asked an attendee. “Well, ya know, I grew up in Oklahoma. I learned about my family from my family. And, um, based on that, that’s just kind of who I am, and I do the best I can with it.” Read more…

Here’s more from The Daily Wire…

During a Monday night town hall event hosted by CNN’s Jake Tapper, 2020 presidential hopeful Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) was asked about her “lack of presidential tact” in handling her apparently phony claims of Native American heritage.

Warren, looking uncomfortable as she responded, seemingly blamed her family for lying to her about their heritage before pivoting to health care and other issues.

“How do you respond to people who think that, regardless of the underlying facts, the way you handled the question of your Native American heritage was tone deaf and indicative of a lack of presidential tact?” asked a man attending the event.

“Well, ya know, I grew up in Oklahoma. I learned about my family from my family,” she responded. “And, um, based on that, that’s just kind of who I am, and I do the best I can with it.”

Obama-Clinton Insider Caught Unlawfully Lobbying for Russia

Former Obama White House counsel and Clinton-tied attorney Greg Craig is facing possible federal charges for illegal unregistered overseas lobbying on behalf of Russian-backed Viktor Yanukovych, president of Ukraine. The allegations are coming to light as the latest installment of deep state corruption getting caught up in the Russia collusion dragnet during the course of the Mueller investigation. According to a Fox News report, the lobbying work occurred in 2012 while Craig was a partner at the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, but Craig failed to register as a foreign agent under the Foreign Agents Registration Act, or FARA. Here’s more from Fox News…

Former Obama White House Counsel and Clinton-linked attorney Greg Craig may soon be charged by the Justice Department for engaging in illegal unregistered overseas lobbying, in a case initially probed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller — a development that would make him the first Democrat to face prosecution amid the long-running Russia investigation.

The case centers on lobbying work that Craig performed in 2012 for the Russian-backed president of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, while Craig was a partner at the law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. Craig allegedly never registered as a foreign agent under a U.S. law known as the Foreign Agents Registration Act, or FARA, which requires lobbyists to declare publicly if they represent foreign leaders, governments or their political parties.

FARA violations were only rarely prosecuted until Mueller took aim at Paul Manafort, President Trump’s former campaign chairman, for his lobbying work in Ukraine. Manafort, who connected Craig with Yanukovych, has been convicted on numerous bank and tax fraud charges, and was separately accused of FARA violations as well. He was sentenced earlier this month to approximately seven years in prison.

Socialism Stalling on Capitol Hill?

Socialist bills are struggling to gain traction in the U.S. House, as Pelosi goes into damage control to whip the Left wing back in-line, all while attempting to push retrograde amnesty for all; gun control; and feel-good, do-nothing diversity resolutions to the forefront. Meanwhile, the Green New Deal, introduced with so much fanfare by socialist Alexadria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), has stalled with only 90 cosponsors, far short of the 218 needed to pass without the support of a single Republican. Also stalling is the Left’s plan to eliminate all private health insurance as part of a single-payer overhaul of America’s healthcare system. Read more…

Here’s more from Washington Examiner…

Ambitious proposals to end climate change and provide healthcare for everyone, seen as socialist by Republicans, have failed to win the support of even half of the House Democratic caucus, effectively dooming any chance of floor consideration.

Support appears to have plateaued for both the Green New Deal resolution as well as the Medicare for All national health insurance proposal.

The Green New Deal, introduced Feb. 7 by rising freshman star Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., calls for a complete overhaul of the nation’s housing, transportation, businesses, and agriculture to end carbon emissions and to stave off climate change.

But of the 235 Democrats in the House, Ocasio-Cortez’s bill has the backing of just 90 of her colleagues, and picked up just one new co-sponsor since Feb. 25.

Democrats Reject God

The latest from Democratic 2020 contenders on the campaign trail affirms that the party is increasingly distancing itself from God to the point of leaving Him out entirely. An op-ed in The Atlantic notes how Beto O’Rourke’s presidential announcement bid did not close with any mention of God, and neither have the “other major white progressive candidates-Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, or Kirsten Gillibrand.” This is in stark contrast to Bill Clinton, Al Gore, John Kerry, and even Barack Obama in 2004. Notably, Obama did not invoke God at the end of his 2007 announcement speech, but he did begin with a humble reflection, “Giving all praise and honor to God for bringing us here today.” Read more…

Here’s more from The Atlantic…

Were a Democrat from the Clinton, Bush, or Obama eras to watch the presidential-announcement video that Beto O’Rourke released on Thursday, they would likely be struck by how it ended. Or, more specifically, by how it didn’t end. O’Rourke did not close with any mention of God.

Until recently, farewells that invoke God were standard fare for Democratic and Republican candidates alike. Bill Clinton ended his 1992 convention speech with the words “God bless you, and God bless America.” At the 1996 convention, he declared, “God bless you, and good night.” Al Gore finished his 1999 presidential-announcement speech with the words “May God bless you. And God bless America.” John Kerry closed his presidential-announcement speech in 2003 by saying, “Thank you, and God bless you all.” Barack Obama ended his keynote address at the 2004 Democratic convention with the phrase “God bless you.” (Although Obama didn’t mention God at the end of his 2007 announcement speech, he began it with “Giving all praise and honor to God for bringing us here today.”) Hillary Clinton closed her announcement speech in 2015 with “God bless you. And may God bless America.”

Losing a Hometown Hero

PITTSBURGH — Baseball is always held up as a metaphor for life in America. The struggles and disappointments, along with the workaday perseverance, form clear parallels.
Both require hope.
Baseball historian David Pietrusza once told me that like baseball, America is all about hope, necessarily tied up with effort and disappointment.
Baseball is a game without a clock. It’s never over until the final out. And no matter what the score is, there’s always a chance. Hope is the 10th guy in every lineup.
Like many traditions in American life that have changed with the times — such as knowing you can stay and prosper in the same town that your father’s father’s father did — the idea that your favorite player will be in the outfield playing for your home team his entire career is also a thing of the past.
Brad Todd lives in the Washington area, and his 9-year-old son’s favorite player, Bryce Harper, just traded his Washington Nationals jersey for a Philadelphia Phillies jersey and a $330 million contract. This brings back memories for Todd.
“I can remember the date, the day and where I was,” he said, a lifelong Atlanta Braves fan and co-author of our book, “The Great Revolt.” “It was August the 3rd, 1990. I was a college student working a summer job at a newspaper, and I remember when, all the sudden, I saw it pop up on my screen that Dale Murphy had been traded, ironically, to the Philadelphia Phillies, and I looked up and everyone in the newsroom was staring at me. They had already seen it and were waiting on my reaction.” But the situation is worse for his son.
He said, “Murphy was at the end of his career. And so I still knew that he would be a Braves legend, and not somebody else’s legend. And that’s the problem I think with Harper. These kids thought that he would play for their team forever, and now he’s going to end up spending the bulk of his career playing for their rivals.” The Phillies and the Nats are both in the National League East division.
Since free agency came about in the ’70s, it has been a mournful rite of passage for young and old fans. This paralleled the broader phenomenon of more Americans leaving the place they grew up and thought they’d stay, having either been pulled away by opportunity, or pushed out by automation or foreign competition.
George Will, the Washington Post columnist who wrote the book on baseball “Men at Work,” says free agency may be one of the best things that happened to baseball. He explained in an interview: “It has, after much tweaking and accommodations, I think, contributed a competitive balance. It has made baseball more interesting. But even if it had done neither, it would be a good idea, because it’s elemental justice that the reserve clause denied. Which is the basic American right to negotiate terms of employment with the employer of your choice.”
Will, who saw his first game at Forbes Field here in Pittsburgh, knows there are plenty of 9-year-old broken hearts across the country every time this happens. “What we learn about baseball is that people are loyal less to particular players and more to the uniform and the logo and the stadium and the whole thing that goes with a team,” he says.
This is likely why in culture, you find loyalty to hometowns in other cities in the most peculiar ways. For instance, the 1,500 Steelers bars that are located across the country provide a way to connect what was lost after thousands and thousands of families were forced to leave when manufacturing collapsed here in the 1970s.
Washington is a jaded city. The adults are going be disappointed but not surprised, and will move past it. But in the end, baseball is a game that lives mostly in the imaginations of little kids and the little kid in all of us. And for that little kid, the loss of a lefty slugger is a little taste of the common sad story of losing hometown things we love.

Pelosi’s Burning House Helps President Trump

Nancy Pelosi is dealing with a train wreck involving infighting among radical freshmen and the Democratic Old Guard, a media in league with the progressive socialist agenda. If President Trump plays his cards right, it could be smooth sailing back into the White House in 2020 simply by staying the course with his Make America Great Again agenda. Accordingly, Pelosi is attempting to move the Democrats’ playbook away from a one note “impeachment” that will leave them empty-handed when it matters most: November 2020. So far, however, hardliners in her party, such as socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), are bucking marching orders. Read more…

Here’s more from PJ Media…

As soon as it became clear on election night last November that the Democrats were going to retake the House, I mentioned on the PJ Media Live Blog that it might be one of the greatest things that could happen for President Trump’s re-election.

Let’s face it, the Democrats had already been rather unhinged since Trump’s election, and they didn’t even have any ditzy bartenders from the Bronx in the mix yet. Bringing all of that crazy into the leadership forefront was going to make it difficult for even the MSM to ignore.

My thought at the time was that they would do little more than caterwaul about impeachment, which would leave the party without anything positive to run on in 2020 and do double duty by stealing Trump’s base. During the transition — before she’d been re-elected Speaker — Nancy Pelosi was trying to warn her colleagues about being the one-note impeachment party.

Some 1.7 million illegal immigrants from Central America and Mexico are still living the in the U.S. despite active or pending deportation orders. That’s double the population of South Dakota. According to federal documents obtained by the Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI), more than a half million of them are from Mexico. “The illegal immigration problem in America is bursting at the seams,” IRLI Executive Director Dale Wilcox said in a statement. College: “Make America Great Again” is “Covert White Supremacy”

During a training seminar at Reed College this year for student residential assistants, “Make America Great Again” was listed as an example of “covert white supremacy.” The Portland, Oregon, school included other phrases, such as “But we’re just one human family,” “I never owned slaves,” and “it is just a joke.” Critics of the “training” blasted it as profiling pro-Trump students as white racists akin to profiling Muslim students who wear a hijab as terrorists. Reed College is attempting to deflect criticism by saying that the graphic was intentionally “provocative” to “spur a conversation.” Read more…

Here’s more from Breitbart…

A training seminar at Reed College this year included a graphic that suggests that the phrase “Make America Great Again” is an example of “covert white supremacy.”

According to a report from The College Fix, Reed College in Portland, Oregon, is teaching students that the phrase “Make America Great Again” is an example of “covert white supremacy.”

A graphic provided to student residential assistants on campus made the case that the “Make America Great Again” phrase is “white supremacist.” The graphic also included phrases like “But we’re just one human family,” “I never owned slaves,” and “it is just a joke” as examples of “covert white supremacist” phrases.

An anonymous source told The College Fix that the training was designed to teach student employees how to profile pro-Trump students. The source compared the training program to profiling Muslims who wear a hijab.

Generation “Zocialist”

A new Harris Poll reveals that Generation Z has the most positive view of “socialism” of any generation-even more so than millennials. This is especially true on such issues as “universal health care” and “tuition-free college.” According to the report, Generation Z, including socialism-inclined millennials, will make up 37% of the electorate in 2020. The poll confirms that the top three voting issues for Generation Z are mass shootings, racial equality, and open borders. It could significantly help skew the Left’s candidate in favor of someone like Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who has openly embraced socialism (regardless of its havoc) for decades. Read more…

Here’s more from Axios…

Generation Z has a more positive view of the word “socialism” than previous generations, and — along with millennials — are more likely to embrace socialistic policies and principles than past generations, according to a new Harris Poll given exclusively to Axios.

Why it matters: The word “socialism” does not carry the same stigma it did in the past, now that it has been resurrected by celebrity politicians like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Young people’s political views often change as they grow older, but their support for socialistic policies is a sign that the old rules of politics are changing fast.

Gen Z and millennials are projected to make up 37% of the electorate in 2020, and what they’re looking for in a presidential candidate is shifting.
